PREVIEW: Modern Combat 4 Zero Hour
0FPSs for mobile devices have evolved a lot in the last months, and given the good ratings MC3:FN got at that moment, it was pretty easy to foresee that Gameloft will milk a little further one of its most successful franchises. As far as we know, the same premises have been kept, so it’d be better if you have at hand your high-end Android with a couple of Gbs of free storage, seven dollars and will to be stuck to your conveniently charging Android for a handful of hours.
Also, as always, plot seems written by Tom Clancy for good or ill. The president of the US has been kidnapped by an ex-special forces badass wanna be evil-Chuck Norris guy and his just raised revolutionary army. You and your team have been called to arms to undo this wrong and come back home before kids go to bed.
There are some new things, though. Weapons and accessories can be combined to create new stuff, and developers told in one of their vids that they were wrestling over game balance so every player bring his or her own personalized weapon to multiplayer battles. Although we haven’t been able to either confirm or deny it, there’s a chance of playing with the bad guy in at least one stage in the campaign mode.
Gameloft hasn’t ever got a name for create original games. However -and this is a very big however- they are the spearhead of technically flawless games, and a reason to understand why portable manufacturers are looking over their shoulders afraid of mobile devices.
Having said that, here’s the video we wanted to show you. It’s expected to be launched soon, perhaps even before the end of month.
