PREVIEW: Anomaly Warzone Korea
0Time ago, we talked extensively of Anomaly Warzone Earth. Not only it’s an awesome game, we weren’t ashamed to tell that if it wasn’t the best, it was one of the best tower-defense games so far. You can dig up our post about this genre here or read the original review on A.W.E. here. In either case we praised the smart twist given to the game, and the many little details it brought. One of that details was the trailer video, and we highlighted it in our post about how developers were taking more care every time about their promotional videos (there). Therefore it wouldn’t be strange that 11bit studios tries to repeat the trick and amaze us with a new great video.
The first thing that should catch you eye is that the overall feeling has moved somewhat to a more Manga-like look. Secondly, that as we can see from the screenshots, gameplay won’t be changed too much. Oh, of course there will be new enemies and gargantuesque bosses, but we also hope there will be new kinds of missions and game modes. Likewise, we hope they don’t let down the animated briefings between stages.

Unfortunately, we will have to wait till fall to enjoy it and to find out if the game is set on North, South or on a hypothetical reunited Korea, because that’s precisely what we wondered first here at AZ HQ. Remember that AWE action took place on Baghdad, so there’s place for any theory you want to handle. Anyway, there’s nothing better for us gamers as to beat some aliens back to from wherever they came, no matter where on Earth they have landed so perhaps is a good idea to replay the original AWE while we await AWK, which have for sure we’ll be ready to play and review it as soon as we can wrestle it away from those tentacled aliens.
